During the season of Lent, we should be partaking in acts of praying, fasting and giving. The time of Lent is used as a time of renewal and recommitment to God, and we have 40 days to commit to this journey. The Israelites wandered in the desert for 40 years. Then they were led into the Promised Land by Joshua. The greatest journey is within ourselves. Pause and re-read that statement again. Sometimes the greatest battle is in our minds. We set up limitations and ask ourselves, “Are we good enough?” or “Can we really make it?” But God has never set limits on his expectations of us. He has encouraged us to trust in him and don’t fall to temptations even in a time of despair. This can be a time for our soul to be at peace and also open up a pathway to our spiritual renewal. Becoming renewed spiritually is not just about praying more. It’s about asking for less and being thankful for everything that He has given us. We must accept God’s gracious gift and rest in it.
